Swine Influenza and TutoringHuman Swine Influenza - N(H1nN) As you may be aware from media reports, the various Departments of Health have requested that all schools assist them in managing any potential Swine Flu outbreak. Tutoring organisations need to be aware of the issues involved and may wish to print the following which can be deemed relevant to tuition centres and coaching colleges. Specifically, schools have been asked to: · Identify children and staff who have recently travelled to Mexico, the USA, Canada, Japan and Panama and exclude them from school for seven(7) days – this is the maximum incubation period for the virus. Those who are well after this time may return to school. · Advise parents and staff that these precautionary measures will be in place on their return should they travel overseas · Advise the parents or carers of any students who have recently returned from overseas and who are feeling unwell with any flu-like symptoms to go to a hospital Emergency Department for assessment · To continue to practise good hygiene to minimise the spread of infections including: o covering your mouth and nose if you cough or sneeze o washing your hands after contact with soiled tissues or any contact with nose or throat discharge o if students or staff are sick, they should stay home and seek medical attention if appropriate
