The Education Tax Rebate (ETR) regarding tutoring costs

On Monday 20 April, 2009 the Sun Herald published an article by Karina Barrymore titled 'Spending tips for $900 stimulus payout'.

The article made reference to the Education Tax Rebate (ETR) in that if eligible to receive the ETR with careful spending you may save more on your education costs. It states that Education costs may include tutoring.

This is incorrect !

The Education Tax Rebate (ETR) does not include tutoring costs.

The ATA confirmed this with the Australian Tax Office (ATO)
